How life is and isn't
50) More of an exercise in self-inquiry, than actual maxims
A few random (or maybe not so random) thoughts to share with all of you!
ON SHOWING UP:
It matters not how we show up for other people if we do not show up for ourselves in a certain kind of way.
ON COMPASSION:
If you kinda felt someone was kinda different before, and you were kinda mean - but, now you understand that person a bit better and you decide to “be kind”… what would it have looked like to “be kind” from the jump?
I know full well that for me to “be kind” as close to 100% of the time as possible, I need to make sure I’m actively practicing “self-love” & “self-care” so that my “being kind” doesn’t get compromised by my crabbiness or (even worse), self-righteousness!
ON LIFE LESSONS:
It’s my job to understand myself better, once I do that, then you can understand me better. If I’m working too hard for you to understand me, then maybe I really don’t even understand myself.
Life will suck the blood out of you, if you let it. Some mistakes we learn from have a heavier price tag than others.
ON THE GAME OF LIFE:
We all lose our sense of perspective when we are too deep in something. Even if that something is doing nothing and just feeling sorry for ourselves.
If you could win at any game you put your mind to, what would it be? When was the last time you allowed yourself to dream that big?
ON SOCIAL MEDIA:
I have fully immersed myself in a game I don’t exactly enjoy. Do you know who I envy the most? It’s those who never bothered with it. There’s such an addictive element to social media, it certainly can’t be healthy. https://www.thesocialdilemma.com/
TIME & TIME MANAGEMENT:
Time is the most precious thing there is, that constantly gets wasted away. There’s got to be a better way to capture time outputs in life. I have yet to find the secret sauce…
ON THE “WHY?” OF OUR EXISTENCE:
The saying is, find your “Why” and you will deal with almost any “How”. But, after all this time we still don’t know WHY?
I mean the “really big WHY”! The WHY that has been plaguing human-kind since we took our first step on earth and started reading parables of Adam and Eve and all the other prophets our designated religions prescribe to us.
It’s also predictable (not impossible, but predictable) that the “really big WHY” will not be found in the generations of people who walk this earth after us. It’s as if we just make up a “Why” so we can find a certain level of bliss, while we continue to simply exist with this much ignorance.
ENDING ON HAPPY (or at least more positive) NOTES:
I’m a firm believer in leaving people better off after having met them, then before meeting them. I would be lying if I told you I batted a 1000% in this category. I think most of us who have existed as human beings, might have the same sentiments as me.
While I’m not exactly sure that our collective suffering is reason for optimism, it does make me appreciate the humanity in all of us that binds us together.
We humans are a fickle bunch, but that’s okay. At the end of the day, most of us (if not all of us) are doing the best we can.
