11) Drawing connections to past events that otherwise might never have been considered
As I write yet another follow-up piece to the initial article I wrote on Columbine and its aftermath: “23 years later” on May 19th, I just feel like…How is anyone able to process the gun violence that has befallen this country just in the last month, let alone in this 21st century?
As I read the headlines, and the facts getting uncovered out of Uvalde Texas, it is looking pretty clear that the cops in that precinct/town/city didn’t do their jobs in protecting their citizens. The fact that they didn’t protect among their most vulnerable citizens at that, speaks to the heart of why I and over 90% of all Americans think the passing of common-sense gun laws has been long overdue, since before the start of this century.
