The First Female President of the United States will be Kamala Harris
86) Sometimes our next President isn’t who we necessarily want, but it’s who is the most ready for the job!
Kamala Harris is seizing her moment and she is doing it with incredible dexterity. Her willingness and desire to be Joe Biden’s running mate in 2020 was in fact underrated.
In many ways Harris’s whole Vice Presidency has been underrated and understated.
Some have argued that VP Harris was deliberately shelved to the behind the scenes work as she did not seem to resonate with the public or Biden’s close-knit team. She was also frequently the tie-breaking vote in the divided 50-50 senate.

Some call Harris the DEI Vice President. Some call her unworthy of respect since she never birthed a child. Some call her bedroom partners into question.
Heck, some call Harris a ruthless prosecutor that imprisoned thousands of Black men in California when she was the State’s AG. Some call her an imperialist (just like the last 10 Presidents).
Kamala Harris and her role in the last two Presidential Elections (2020 & 2024)
Kamala Harris the DEI VP Nominee in 2020? … People who don’t believe in true representation of all Americans in higher office, might want to mockingly tether her to this label.
Kamala Harris, the DEI Presidential Nominee in 2024? … Considering she’s been the President’s second in command since day one, I’m not sure why this has any resonance. Harris is just stepping up to the plate just like anyone who is a heart-beat away from the Presidency naturally would.
I personally consider Kamala Harris the Tyrone Lue of politicians.
SIDE BAR:
If you don’t want to read through all this, but want to know how the Democratic Party landed on Harris, just read this section (it’s all in BOLD).
Here’s a not so subtle little secret as to why Harris is in the position she is in now.
Biden never had any “real” challengers for the Democratic Party nominee during the 2024 Primary Election Season. Biden and his people thought that having a debate against Trump in June of 2024 would be to his advantage. Him and his people were dead wrong!
Harris is now inheriting Biden’s campaign infrastructure, and all the money he raised. The money apparatus available to Biden was only available to Harris as his #2.
The lifeblood of politics is money. Not only that, but people loyal to Biden said they would only accept Harris as the de facto nominee if Biden were to step aside.
When you factor in the money quandary and how expensive it is to run for President, along with the Biden/Harris loyalty factor, it makes perfect sense why the Democratic Party leaders were so ready to anoint Harris.
“Now that President Biden is out, there’s a question of whether any other candidate would or should have access to that money. The short answer seems to be that Vice President Harris — who is already poised to be the new Democratic nominee — has a strong claim to the funds, because she was and is on the filing statements as a candidate with Biden. Other potential replacements would not, according to many campaign finance experts.”
Can Harris — or any other Democrat — access Biden campaign money?

END OF SIDE BAR:
In fact, some call Harris (and the Democratic party) undemocratic for subverting the will of the primary electorate. This one seems to be the most popular in Republican circles*. This one is so rich with irony for these wanna-be autocrats acting like they care about free and fair elections.
*This argument has been a hot topic in some Democratic circles, too. I hear peoples arguments, and have read some compelling ones.
But, even in a system of democratized politics, the will of the people sometimes gets messy, especially given how much money is involved (see sidebar, above).
How about all the countless Republicans including Trump’s own *VP nominee said Trump was unfit for office way back in 2016. Trump has also actively attempted to subvert the 2020 Election results for over four years now.
The sad saga of Mr. Hillbilly Elegy, himself is taking some really weird turns, as Trump’s team might wish they had a mulligan on this Veep pick.
Better yet, some people like to remind the world that Harris is secretly supporting Hamas, since she has a stepdaughter who has been fundraising for Gaza relief efforts.
In fairness, there are times that Harris has to counterbalance the US Government’s unconditional support for Israel since the Biden Administration has been put in an impossible to win situation with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu being the worst Jewish leader in over 2100 years.
For some perspective, America has only had Presidents since 1789 (dating back 236 plus years and 46 Presidents). That’s practically only 1/10th the amount of time America has had a primary political leader, compared to the Jewish People.
There are those of us who are not astute enough to realize that sometimes the Vice President needs to take uncomfortable positions diametrically opposed to the President in order to protect the President.
Then there are those of us that are plenty smart to figure this out, but are so cynical, and so willing to manipulate and propagandize the facts in order to shine someone in the most negative of lights possible.
These people, some of whom are quite the experts in sophistry, care not about the truth, but rather the means justifying their self-interested ends.
Sadly, Trump unleashed a movement that so many people were too eager to join. The fact that there weren’t just thousands of Americans who thought alike, but millions, gave people comfort as well as strength in numbers. At which point, more and more people joined the herd.
Trump has also filled the courts with his judges, who are more than willing to do his bidding.
The glaring weaknesses in the Democratic party have been easily exploited by the MAGA movement, much to the peril of people’s individual rights and liberties.
Here America is again, at another inflection point. Kamala Harris is the presumptive Democratic nominee for President. She has created a tremendous groundswell of enthusiasm. However, there are still plenty of people who are either members of the Democratic party, or inclined to vote that way, who are left underwhelmed.
How we as Americans have been spoiled by transformational personalities as Presidents. Democrats assume that another Bill Clinton or Barack Obama should just magically emerge.
How we all forget that in life, the idea of a meritocracy is more frequently than not simply an idea. Therefore, despite our collective American ideals, meritocracies are not necessarily always practiced. (Just google Bronny James or Hollywood Actors whose parents are also famous, if you don’t believe me).
There are an assortment of reasons why this happens. Circumstance (and legacy) plays a much larger role than any of us ever want to admit (see sidebar above).
People need to be available at the right time and right place. If Harris does become our 47th President, it will have been a rise to superstardom that will be studied for generations to come.
Sometimes, it’s better to study how we got here as opposed to questioning why we got here. (For a boiler-point explanation, see sidebar above).
My personal preferences aside, my top two concerns this election season are
First and foremost, that here is no more political violence. I find some of the rhetoric that continues to be spewed quite disturbing. If I had a silver bullet to use to make it all stop, I would.
Second, that there is a peaceful transition to a new Presidential Administration, and the results are counted in a fair manner, that will ultimately be honored by both parties.
And no matter who wins the election, American peace and prosperity should always be the highest priority.
Until next time.
