The Supreme Court just threw out decades of past precedent in not just 1 but 2 landmark cases
17) While the Senate passes a very limited bill on gun-reform at the exact same time. Coincidence?
The Country in which I occupy and am considered a citizen of, has made a seismic shift in ways that aren’t exactly representative of the majority of the country. This despite the fact that we are widely considered (or at least used to be) “the leading democracy” throughout all the land.
At the center of all this is the United States Supreme Court, the most powerful court in America. The U.S. Senate did some things too, that might or might not be too surprising. The timing of what the Senate passed certainly is convenient.
Here are the three major events that just happened within a span of less than 24 hours:
1- Abortions are now severely restricted throughout much of the country: Blue States (i.e. -States controlled by the Democratic party) will remain free for women to choose, but many of the more Red States (i.e. - States controlled by the Republican party) are trying to end abortion outright, even in the most extreme cases.

2- The rights of Gun-Owners and would-be gun-owners, have a victory in NY: The consequences of this ruling make NYC less safe along the way, and overturn a long-standing precedent that an overwhelming majority of New Yorkers actually always supported.

3 - The Senate just passed a very limited gun-reform package: This legislation is a victory of sorts (for gun-control advocates) putting limited restrictions on gun-buyers nation-wide. It’s the first such legislation to pass the Senate in over 30 years. https://www.politico.com/news/2022/06/23/congress-bipartisan-gun-package-00041701
The Senate’s actions during this time are almost too convenient, when not just one but two Supreme Court cases fundamentally shift American domestic policies in a profound way. It’s almost as if some members of the Senate are more than happy to pass a bill that is being largely over-shadowed by the actions of one of the other branches of the federal government.
More to come (in the subsequent days) on this breaking news story from Josh off the Press.
