Trump’s Big day lands on MLK Day
98) What a twisted irony that Trump gets inaugurated as POTUS (again) on this day!
While it's a cruel irony Donald Trump gets to share a day with one of America’s greatest men ever, it’s also not lost on me how money in politics clouds everything.
The Democratic party continues to suffer from a “holier than thou” approach, despite all the money sloshing around electing officials within their ranks. To the average person it’s sometimes hard to distinguish between which party represents what.
The party of the working man after all is…Who knows?
The party of the billionaire class is…Evidently whoever wins! https://politicalwire.com/2025/01/20/billionaire-wealth-surges-to-unimaginable-levels/
I finally saw the movie “The Apprentice” about Donald Trump’s personal mentor and fixer/lawyer Ray Cohn. It was quite a telling movie. It was based on Trump's best-selling book “The Art of the Deal”.
True believers of the left might find it disturbing given some of the incendiary moments in the movie that appear to hold truth, such as Trump’s sexually predatory ways. True believers of the right might believe this is a hatchet job of the highest order, and think that this further contributes to TDS.
As per someone who quite frankly likes to know what the right is thinking, I was rather disappointed by the reaction of a “Trump Kool-Aid Drinker” I know fairly well. He had not even seen the movie, but felt incredibly threatened by the notion that I insist he watch it so we can have an interesting discussion/debate about how Trump became who he is.
What I came to realize from my overzealous acquaintance was the fact that during all this time he was spamming my phone with text messages from right-wing news outlets like Breitbart and any other Trump loving fanatical site he could find, was the fact that this acquaintance was never interested in having a rational debate/or civil conversation with me. Rather this guy wanted to convert me.
Since 49.8% of America voted for Trump this time, that means 100% of America should fall in line with him! “Trump falls just below 50% in popular vote”
Sadly, the billionaires and those close to being billionaires are towing the line.
Oh hi Jeff Bezos!
Your newspaper is in the tank, but fortunately for you, millions of dupes like me are addicted to your Amazon app. “Bezos Gets It Backwards: He Should Run Amazon Like the Post and the Post Like Amazon”.
As for the “Trump Kool-Aid Drinker” I mentioned above;
Well a number of people pointed out to me the ignorance on my part to assume that he in any way was a good faith debater.
They suggest that I stop wasting my time talking to Trumpers.
I’m starting to see the wisdom of these suggestions.
I used to think that isolating oneself from those that don’t think like you as a big reason as to why we are so divided as a nation.
I personally think it’s a bit more complicated than that now.
But, I do agree some conversations are sometimes just not worth having.
The attack on the “Post-Civil Rights America” we all inhabit today has been decades in the making.
The right wants to go back to a predominantly White Christian Nation. This is where others shall remain subservient to those in power and people’s perches remain unscathed. You don’t even have to be a Christian to feel this way. I sadly know too many people of the Jewish faith that believe this.
It’s incredibly alarming how deep “White-Supremacy” runs on this planet. People on the left get angered by this notion, too. Heck some of you reading this now, are already angry at me for writing this truth.
Whether you agree or disagree with what I have shared so far - one obvious truth is that since election day, it has already been quite the bumpy ride.
I just want us all to be able to hold on with minimal damage done, where we all are hopefully at least a bit stronger and a bit wiser after Trump’s second Presidential Act.
*In one of my follow-up posts to this one; I will write about how we are in the throes of our third “Reconstruction Era” in America.
*The first Reconstruction Era being after the American Civil War in the 1860s, the second one during the Civil Rights Era of the 1960s and the third one (we are currently living through now) started as soon as Obama was first sworn into office as President in 2009.
Until then, Happy Inauguration Day, everyone (well maybe for 49.8% of us).
