What do VP Kamala Harris and NBA Head Coach Ty Lue have in common?
85) Even for you NBA Fans, I’m going to break it down for you. For you non-basketball fans, just follow the political thread
People forget that the 2020 Presidential Democratic Primary Elections were tumultuous. There was no clear favorite.
Hillary was essentially banished from running again, and Bernie Sanders suffered a heart-attack. Joe Biden unexpectedly emerged as the consensus candidate. He was a logical choice as a bridge builder and a uniter over a political party that was still incredibly embarrassed and fractured after the 2016 election that brought us a President Trump.
Pictured above is VP Harris standing with the 2024 Olympic Basketball team. Directly behind her with the salt and pepper hair is Coach Ty Lue.
For those of you who don’t know who Ty Lue is, he is an NBA Champion head coach for the Los Angeles Clippers. Anybody that knows basketball knows the Clippers are a cursed franchise. They are an after-thought in LA compared to the Lakers.
So, let's skip back to when Ty Lue was more relevant, when he coached LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers to the championship in 2016.
Today, on July 21, 2024, Joe Biden stepped aside and endorsed Kamala Harris to lead our Country to a Democratic Presidential Victory in November 2024.
While Basketball is a game that doesn’t nearly have the same type of consequences as the game of politics has, the circumstances and the pressure that Ty Lue felt compared to the pressure VP Harris must feel now, is quite similar.
Kamala Harris is going to be the presumptive Democratic Nominee for President in 2024. There might be murmurs about a “blitz primary” but the money is literally and figuratively with Harris, now.
The circumstances are less than ideal, but are still incredibly doable.
When LeBron James came back to Cleveland after a four year run in Miami, he was celebrated as a hero. He led his Cavs team to the 2015 finals with head coach David Blatt. Coach Blatt was subsequently fired in the middle of the year the next season, despite the Cavs having a winning record.
The Cleveland Cavaliers with the best player in the world, promoted Ty Lue to lead the franchise and the city to their first championship in over 53 years.
I can’t wait until the evening of November 05, 2024 or the early hours of November 06, 2024, when President-Elect Kamala Harris shouts from the mountain-top
“AMERICA!!!! THIS IS FOR YOU!!!!”
Much like the 73 Win Golden State Warriors were a colossal task for the Cavs to take down, the Democratic Party can take down the Trump Machine and MAGA Movement, even though we are changing the Leader/Head Coach in the middle of the race/season.
I believe in Kamala Harris! I believe with her in charge of the Democratic Party with all their talent, and with all their winning issues, the Democrats will seize the day!
Peace and Blessings!

A similar last-minute switch of candidates happened here in New Zealand, shortly before the election where Jacinda Ardern took office. The left looked like they were losing and just a few weeks out from election, the leader stood down, making way for Jacinda Ardern to take the reigns. Her popularity with the public swung the election the other way, and I'm hopeful Kamala Harris will have the a similar effect over there - she certainly speaks to younger voters, women and ethnic minority groups... crossing fingers and toes for the US (and all of us....)
