Autocracies, Diminished Dynasties & Billionaires tarnishing Super-Stars Legacies
There certainly is still politics in sports, despite people saying this is the "post-woke" era!
Miriam Adelson the Israeli-born casino magnate and billionaire, with her son-in-law, Patrick Dumont, owns a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks NBA franchise.
They bought their majority ownership in December of 2023, off of one of the most recognizable and famous Billionaires in the world, Mark Cuban, Co-star of Shark Tank.
This transaction had the primary intention of creating a partnership between Adelson’s family and Cuban to open up a state-of-the-art Sands Casino and resort hotel in the heart of Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas.
Unfortunately for that unholy partnership, the Texas Legislature has been thwarting their ability to move forward with it.
In turn, Adelson and Dumont took an unprecedented move of literally and figuratively knee-capping the Mavericks franchise and fan base by trading away their star player Luka Doncic. As the reporting goes, Mark Cuban had nothing to do with this1.
As karma has it, while the Mavs continue to crap on Luka and his legacy he has already established for the Mavs, the player the Mavs did trade for in Anthony Davis, is already injured and is famously living up to his nickname “Street Clothes Davis”2.
In other news, the Kansas City Chiefs did not 3-peat. Thus, ensuring that for at least three more years, no NFL Team will have ever won three straight Super Bowls ever, going all the way back to the inception of the very first Super Bowl on January 15, 1967.
This means, it’s going to be at least 62 years (AT LEAST) before we even have a chance to see another Football team attempt the ever elusive 3-peat in the modern Super Bowl era!
As much as I have enjoyed watching the rise of Patrick Mahomes as a Bonafide megastar in the National Football League, I am happy that this record still has not been broken.
Partially this is out of pettiness as I can’t stand seeing all these Chief jackets and hats being worn all around New York. But it’s also a matter of the Chiefs actually not being a particularly good team despite their overall record for the year being 17-3.
In politics, it appears as if the assessment of the new Trump Regime is that of a modern day 21st century Autocracy3.
I think if you were to compare the Trump Regime to a hurricane, I think this means his Presidency is not that of a Level 5 Hurricane, maybe not even a Level 4, but the era of democracy spreading throughout the world is firmly entrenched on the endangered species list.
Out of all three major events I’m writing about, the only one that isn’t as compromised by nefarious billionaires, is this year’s Super Bowl result.
While on the surface the Luka Doncic trade appears strange, it kind of makes sense when you think of the vested financial interest the new Mavs ownership has in bringing casinos to Texas.
The crassness in which this ownership group speaks of Luka however, I think is a very ugly look for the NBA, and it again makes me question how strong of a leader Adam Silver actually is.
The most alarming of these three stories is the continued influence that Elon Musk has in the Trump White House, and the efforts this current administration has made to completely gut America’s Federal Bureaucracy.
You hear clowns like Joe rogan4 speak of the rampant corruption in USAID, yet you hear little from all these rich bastards about their absurdly low tax rate, or the over-all wealth gap that continues to widen here in America and throughout the world.
If anything, the genius of all these political plutocrats is how they allow the people with very little money to do all the bidding for all these super wealthy folks.
People used to tell me how ridiculous it is to support wealthy sports teams with rich jocks.
Now I’m seeing it even more prevalent in politics, where every day plain folks are manipulated by these rich politicians being represented by wealthy parties, who are backed by even wealthier people, entities and corporations.
But to tie it back to Sports, the “Karma Gods” appear to make themselves far more noticeable in the gamesmanship of athletic competition compared to political competition.

PS - Maybe the Karma Gods are paying closer attention to politics than I realized5. Elon Musk’s net-worth appears to have taken a bit of a nose-dive.

While we have some philosophical differences, this is a GREAT point.
