The NBA Regular Season is back!
67) The 2023-2024 NBA Season hopefully has more on-court fun and less off-court drama
I’m excited for the new NBA season, as a diversion from all the tragedy and sadness I have been reading and writing about, lately. As much as the NFL and college football captivate America, I still find nothing quite like the global sport of the round orange ball going through the cylinders, making the swooshing sound.
While the NBA is talked about year round, I kind of like the break from the game in the off-season. While I wasn’t clamoring for it to come back, I’m glad it is.
What I’m most looking forward to this NBA Season:
This new rookie in San Antonio (Victor Wembanyama) is already turning heads. I find myself reluctant to buy all the hype, as I am concerned given his body-frame, how long he will last in the league. Although just based on the clip below, he is already showing signs of being a truly transcendent player.
Even former NBA players that were the ideal sized wings, had early demises, or truncated careers.
Also, as much as there are LeBron James haters out there, I’m still amazed he’s going so strong in year 21. LeBron will be turning 39 this year, and at the same age LeBron is now, Michael Jordan made his two year come-back with the Washington Wizards.
Other stories I’m most excited about is the pairing of Dame Dollar with the Greek Freak.
I’m also curious to see if the Nuggets can repeat as Champions. Check out this sweet shot from the Joker in their close-out game against the Lakers in the WCF (2023).
Obviously, there are so many other stories that will still develop. But, honestly I miss the NBA of *old.
*I’m talking old from my vantage point.
For the record, I did not find that video on my own. This is on Rex Chapman’s super awesome twitter/x account https://twitter.com/RexChapman/status/1083904651945275393
If you miss 1990s Basketball a much as I do, take a trip down memory lane and check out my book review on the 1990s Knicks, right here.
Until next time!

Has LeBron James really been playing professional basketball for that long???
Nice! Great video clips. I'm going to have to revisit this page and get to all of them.
Yes, I miss the 80's and 90's NBA terribly. I don't miss the last few years of those Knicks teams though. Slow, faux Pistons rough ball got old really quickly. Watching the NYK win 84-79 was horrible.
I still think the best Riley team was Jackson / G Wilkins / Ewing / Oakley / McDaniel .... a lineup they had for ONE year. Mason and Starks came off the bench. The NYK were winning again and it was a lot of fun.
The new Spurs rookie Wemby - you and I think alike. He seems to be the real thing (particularly on defense), but I wonder if he'll be Ralph Sampson or Steve Stipanovich, or if he'll last.
Nice post Josh. Good stuff.
